Ponds and Wildlife MarshesWhen a property owner requests our services to evaluate a site for pond or wildlife marsh construction we will require a fee of $34.00 per hour after 2 free hours per site visit. This will include an evaluation of the site in general, soil suitability, drainage, topography, watershed, discussion of costs, sizes, structures, equipment needs, and values. This will include time necessary to review soil test pits and a letter, if required by the local municipality, acknowledging the site is suitable for a pond. The letter will verify that pond construction according to plans will not cause damage to other property. We do not issue permits to build ponds. If the property owner decides to construct a pond and wishes a design and construction supervision, we will require a $300.00 deposit. The deposit will be returned only when the pond has been constructed according to standards and specifications of the design as interpreted by the district technician involved (includes seeding all disturbed soil area). Property owners may be charged an additional fee for a building or special use permit by their local town municipality. Occasionally we find the design for a pond or marsh is beyond our authority. In those cases a property owner will be instructed to contact a licenses professional engineer to draw up plans and specifications for construction. DrainageA property owner wishing to have us investigate drainage problems will not be charged for a first visit. This includes surface or subsurface drainage systems or flooding. This will include a site visit that may involve a preliminary survey, outlet inspection, discussion of previous work, needed maintenance, or contractors available to do the job. If a design survey is required, a fee of $34.00 per hour will be charged. The fee will, if needed, include a profile survey, design and cut sheet. Additional materials (marking flags, survey stakes, etc.) required for the work will be billed at the current rate (flags - $.14 ea. stakes - $.50 ea.) as determined by the District Board. Occasionally, plans may require the services of a licenses professional engineer, special fees, or other items that are not part of our design. The property owner will be required to either supply materials or pay those costs as needed. Mining and Reclamation PlansA fee of $1,000.00 per plan will be charged for the mining of sand, gravel, clay, marl, or any other material. Any necessary maps, sketches, profiles, or narratives are included in the plan. Also, any applications, environmental assessment forms, or other required forms will be completed. In some cases, due to the complexity of a project, a referral may be made to a private consultant or licenses professional engineer (no fee will be assessed in this case). Additional fees may be charged by the local municipality in some cases. Also, a public notification or advertisement may be required. These additional fees or charges will be the responsibility of the applicant.
