The Great Depression

The Great Depression and it's impact on Genesee County

Genesee County Historians Association provided the funding for a 2009-2010 AmeriCorps Member. Ruth Koch, our AmeriCorps Member, worked with the Genesee County History Department’s Volunteers to create an index of local articles from the Batavia Daily Newspaper dating from October 2, 1929 to December 29, 1941 that provided information regarding the impact of the Great Depression on Genesee County.  This project  provides a permanent record of the sacrifices and support Genesee County endured and provided during a time of national crisis.  The finished project resulted in a collection of 17 binders which were indexed to increase public access. Without the AmeriCorps program this project would never have been accomplished!
